On Day 2 of my Coronado adventure, I awoke bright and early (which was funny due to the fact that I had partied the night away into the wee hours only a short time prior with Steven and Jessica) and was READY for the day. Turns out the hotel room Breezy, Court and I accommodated was amazingly satisfying – which I expected due to the Hotel Del Coronado’s esteemed reputation. Waking up with a fresh cup ‘a Joe and catching up on my morning magazines was not a bad way to start the day. NOT BAD AT ALL.
Then, thanks to the Perpetual Plannings of Breezy (which I think should be the title of her next book), we decided to meet up with old college friends and new San Diego residents, Terry and Mike, for a Champagne Cruise around the bay. I mean, can you say “right up my alley”?
We arrived at the marina, boarded our vessel and promptly ordered 3 bottles because no one likes to go out to sea sober. HOWEVER – Hamptons to Hollywood TIP #1: Getting wasted on board a marine vessel is NOT advised, especially if you’re a lightweight. There’s waves, the boat can rock unstably, and look what happened to Natalie Wood, guys. #RIP
The cruise was amazing, until we, quite literally, hit a bump. Or in this case, a sand bar. We were un-phased by this little conundrum because our libations and music selection kept us entertained, but the Captain was freaking the fu** out. He had to flag down a nearby speedboat to drag us off the massive sandbar and back into open water. The whole thing was a beautiful little mess. Which is pretty much the story of my life, so I expected nothing less.
For the day’s adventure I sported a nautical inspired look and pulled a long-sleeve tee over a striped button down to give ever the slightest bit of prepdom. And, I mean, SPERRYS, but do I even have to say it? You guys know that’s my ish. It was a great day to spend with friends and an even better conclusion to my San Diego weekend.
