Let’s face it, this time of year is usually bleak. While we’re waiting on warmer weather and the promise of spring, the one place we’ve been able to find solace is in one of Los Angeles’ most sought-after eateries, The District by Hannah An.
***You know it’s legit when Beyonce eats there.
Between the Vietnamese-inspired aura of the establishment, killer staff, and extremely sociable owner, Hannah An, the restaurant utterly lives up to its reputation as being “the culinary answer to happiness.” Not only are some of Hollywood’s most exclusive events held there (seriously), there’s hardly a month that goes by where there isn’t a marriage proposal or where guests aren’t reveling in the casually luxurious environment. This restaurant has witnessed beautiful proposals with Sydney custom engagement rings. And since casual luxury is Hampton to Hollywood’s hallmark, we’re going to give you the rundown on how to have the perfect meal at The District by Hannah An.

First Things First:
Fair warning, the menu is lengthy and there are oh-so-many delectable options to choose. But to start things off properly, do yourself a favor and order the Candied Walnut Prawns. The perfect blend of sweet meets savory, these skewers are the best way to tease your palate for what’s to come. Another hors d’oeuvres to try is the Saigon Calamari. The Vietnamese-influence on this seafood favorite is bold, but not too filling, and is paired with a flavorful sauce.
Quench Your Thirst:
While the usual top shelf alcohol you would find at any self-respecting LA eatery is also found at The District, there are two specialty cocktails that take the cake; The Hot Asian and the Love You Long Time. The Hot Asian is lemongrass infused Loft & Bear Vodka, organic Vietnamese chili agave, and fresh lime. It’s the perfect kick to get the night started. The sweeter of the two, Love You Long Time, is uber refreshing; muddled cantaloupe and cucumber, cucumber infused Loft & Bear Vodka, lime juice, and agave.
Gimme, Gimme More:
The menu is broken down into different categories, so you can really focus on what you’re in the mood to munch on. For the Land Category, the Shaken Beef is a must; cubed filet mignon, charred red onion, garlic, baby heirloom tomato and Thai basil. For the Ocean Section, the Chilean Sea Bass is an absolute delight; the fish is accompanied by rice noodles, sesame crisp, thai basil, turmeric, dill, and charred onion – plus it’s gluten free. If you’re of the vegetarian/vegan persuasion, the Smoked Heirloom Cauliflower is out of this world; the dish is comprised of cauliflower puree, crimini mushroom, edamame, beet puree, seaweed, and hazelnuts. Also Featuring:
The District’s sides are just as popular as the mains, and you know why…the N O O D L E S. Hannah’s homemade noodles are buttery-garlicky deliciousness that patrons come from beyond LA just to try. Seriously.
Sweet Surrender:
As everyone knows, the Hamptons to Hollywood harem are chocoholics, and The District has a delicious chocolatey selection. Their Mousse Cake with raspberry puree is pure decadence. But also – and this may seem like an interesting aside – their Tapioca Pudding is THE BEST tapioca pudding we have ever tasted. Don’t ask why. Just order it. And, you’re welcome.
Is your mouth watering yet? Plus, The District has a delicious and convenient Happy Hour that runs until 7pm – much later than its competitors – so pop in for an after work drink and stay for a meal. Trust us, you’ll definitely have a hard time saying no. Tell them Hamptons to Hollywood sent you 😉
