Are we feeling a little extra Halloween-ie, fellow Hollywooders?
If you haven’t completely embraced the spookiest holiday of the year yet, there’s still time to leap into the spirit. How do we know? Because we just saw Hocus Pocus at Rockwell Table & Stage the other night and are still smiling because of how ghoulishly fun it was.
Based off the hit, cult-classic of the same name (in what may constitute as Bette, Sarah Jessica, and Kathy’s finest performances, in our humble opinion) the performance retells the tale of the Sanderson sisters wreaking havoc on Halloween night, but with a totally modern twist. Popular current songs are woven into the narrative for some extra flair, just enough so that it feels like you’re watching a whole new story. But don’t worry, classic tunes from the original film are of course included too – i.e., “I Put a Spell on You.”
And just like in Bridesmaids, the performances in Hocus Pocus are PHENOMENAL. Witty, tongue-in-cheek, and appropriately self-deprecating, each character pokes fun at themselves in the best way and each of them has a killer set of pipes. Not that we were surprised, to be honest, because Rockwell Table & Stage always has exceptional performers putting on great shows.
“This is the ultimate Halloween film featuring my favorite character women of all time,” says Executive Producer & Co-Writer, Kate Pazakis. “We are thrilled to bring this hit show back to Rockwell and have many surprise guest performances as well as an all star cast of Broadway/Film/TV actors and even a Tony Award winner.”
The show runs through November 17th with performances on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 8pm, and Sundays at noon. Don’t miss it.
